Jumping for Joy

We had Chris, Paula, and Jackson come over to watch a basketball game today (is it bad I don't even know the teams that played). Chris insisted I take photos of Austin asleep in his Jumperoo, so I did. I am glad he bossed me around after all. This makes up for him giving me the wrong time for the pig roast yesterday (long and uninteresting story).

Do you believe in magic?

Getting a photo of both our magicians was too hard!

A friend of ours, Caroline, was doing some Spring cleaning and she gave us tons of toys and clothes for Lex. Among the loot was a magician's hat, cape, and wand. Lex took to these things instantly and we had a lot of fun playing with him last Saturday. Here are some photos and video. Poor Jer had a great magic trick planned out at the end of the video, but Lex wasn't impressed with the hand of death.

Spring Training

Last week we had the opportunity to go to a Ray's Spring Training game. We had a really good time! One of Jer's coworkers, Julia, gave us the tickets. The stadium is brand new and has a great playground for the kids plus the all important Dippin' Dots stand.

On our way out Lex and I almost got hit by a ball while getting a drink of water. A nearby employee picked it up and gave it to Lex. He was so proud of that ball, he wanted to take it everywhere with him and even slept with it.

Jer also went to a game while the rest of us were out of town, so the picture above are actually from that game, but you get the idea. Julia has great seats! Thanks, Julia!

Lex Update

Here is the latest on Lex:

Lex has been obsessed with letters for several months now. He gets excited when he sees them and we think he dreams of letters. Yes, it is nerdy. But when it is your kid you overlook it!

Lex asks daily to go to the park and loves to swing and go on the slides. He's learned to say thank you and sorry, and it has made being his Mama so much more pleasurable. When I give him his cereal in the morning I get a prompt "Thank you, Mama!" It is nice to be thanked for the little things!

Lex is talking a ton more but still continues with Speech Therapy to work on annunciation. Two days a week he has a 30 minute session with the speech therapist at our local elementary school. He loves it so much! We call it school and he is always happy to go. He gets to go with the teacher all by himself while Aussie and I wait in the school's office. It doesn't hurt that it is Jackson's school, too. Lex has even seen Jackson in the hallway. He thinks he is pretty cool to have something in common with Jackson!

Austin Update

Au

Austin is really at a fun age! He is 4.5 months now and a few weeks ago weighed in at 21 pounds (disclaimer: this was with clothes on)! His first tooth came in this week so he has been pretty bummed, but we'll still keep him!

Austin has been working on his sitting up skills and is able to sit up for short durations. This is a very good thing for his reflux since strengthening the abdominal muscles is key to keeping food in his tummy. His gastroenterologist is very happy with his progress and is currently weaning him off of his medication.

Here is a video of us trying to get Austin to giggle. I didn't quite get it, but I got a ton of smiles. Jackson can get him to giggle all the time! He has the touch. Next time he is over I'll have to get a video of hilarious Jackson in action.

Hey Mom . . .

It has been a month since I've posted anything. Part of that is because we went to visit my mom and dad last month. Lex, Austin, and I were gone for almost three weeks and Jer came out for five days. We had a great time, but I have no photos to show for it right now! I took all the photos on my mom's camera and I keep forgetting to ask her to download them so I can post them. Since my mom always gets on this blog, this is a great way to ask her!

We did have a great time with them, though. I spent a lot of time with Sara and her family. Lex loved his cousins and they got along pretty well! I also got to see a lot of old friends (and meet a lot of their kids). Anyway, thanks Mom for letting us stay with you for so long!

Random photos

Don't Miss the Boat

Jeremy's parents from Salt Lake City, Utah came to visit for a week during February. One of the highlights of the trip was missing this boat at Fisherman's Village. We saw it leave and while we were at dinner at Harpoon Harry's it returned for us to see and heckle us even further.

Lex sure loved his grandparents and when we first saw them he ran into their open arms for a running hug. They read him books and gave him lots of cuddle time. I think they were pretty smitten with their grandkids but who wouldn't be?

Jer had a trip to Ft. Lauderdale so they also joined him there. The cruise ships beckoned but they were able to focus upon getting a pedicure and enjoying a French bakery. Don't worry, it was just Jer's mom that got the pedicure, not his dad. Enjoy the pics from their visit.

Austin's Blessing

We blessed Austin at church today. We were so lucky to have Jeremy's parents here, but now I see we didn't get any photos of them with the kids! D'oh! I guess we'll get more this week. They came into town on Friday night, and we spent a great day with them yesterday at Disney Hollywood Studios.

Lex's 3rd Birthday

Lex's birthday was last week! It was a great day. The only drawback was that after he went to sleep that night he came down with strep throat. Poor kid.

For his birthday, we let him open one gift the night before. That was a mini market. We planned to save the rest of his gifts until the evening of his birthday, but Lex went birthday crazy during the day! I was reading him some birthday wishes from family members when he suddenly started saying, "Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday!" and ran over to his gifts to open them. I called Jer at work and he said to go ahead and let him at it but get it on video. So here is part of his greed!

We really enjoyed this day as much as Lex. It was the first year that he didn't cry during the "Happy Birthday" song. Austin did, though!

The video below is five minutes long, so no pressure to watch it! It shows Lex getting his first gift the night before, then part of his birthday craziness. I love when all the gifts have been opened and Lex shows remorse. Lastly, it shows Lex blowing out his candles.

Our little chunkster

I make no secret of how I feel about chunky babies -- I love them so much! So, I am thrilled that Austin is turning out to be a super chunk just like Lex was. I took Austin to his two month appointment a few weeks ago. He weighed in at 15 pounds, 11 ounces. He doesn't even get a percentile since he is off the charts! He is still a few ounces shy of Lex's two month weight of 15 pounds, 13 ounces, but Lex started out in life a whole pound heavier than Austin. I think Austin has done a great job of catching up!

Beach Trip

We also took the kids to the beach in their new wagon a few weeks ago. Here are the photos:

Lex on the Lanai

We took these photos on New Year's Day, and I thought they were cute. Lex was outside on the lanai just taking in the scenery!
